Ronald W. Shane Watersports Center

  • Directions/Map

Located on the east bank of Indian Creek in the heart of Miami Beach, the Ronald W. Shane Watersports Center is home to the University of Miami rowing team.

The 4,200 square foot facility is equipped with locker rooms, offices, meeting rooms, a weight room, and bay space to store over 75 boats. Currently, the Center is undergoing an expansion project that will add an additional 3,500 square feet of bay space as well as an enlarged weight room, an erg room and more meeting space. Upon completion of the expansion project in the near future, the Shane Water Sports Center will truly be one of the finest rowing facilities in the country.

The Indian Creek water waterways are similarly impressive and ideal for rowing. They offer a protected three mile stretch of water that opens up onto Biscayne Bay. In addition, there are several networks of canal linking Indian Creek to Biscayne Bay, which provide wide variety of options for training sessions. It is also home to a variety of marine life including dolphin and manatees. These ideal conditions are the reason many universities, high schools, and even the US Men's National Team have chosen this site for their winter training trips.
